Dear members and supporters,
On behalf of the fbe board of directors, I’m delighted to announce our new corporate sponsor for 2022
will be Fortus Business Advisors & Accountants.
With Fortus, a fast-growing Top 40 Accountancy Age firm, we have a partner who truly shares our passion for the built environment. They’ve a specialist Construction & Built Environment sector offering, headed up by Stephen Watts, and their core market’s supporting Owner Managed Businesses (OMBs), making them a great fit for fbe members. These are just two of many reasons why the fbe and Fortus complement each other so well.
I also see them as disruptors in their space as they’re not your stereotypical firm of accountants. The growth they’ve enjoyed follows the significant investments they’ve made in developing their specialist advisory service lines; something else that sets them apart from other accountants.
It’s possible some of our fbe members will already be familiar with Fortus as they’ve hosted various webinars over the past year. These have been very well attended, especially around succession planning and Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs) within the built environment sector.
Stephen Watts, Executive Director and Head of Construction & Built Environment at Fortus commented, “It was a key part of our sector strategy to partner with a respected and reputable organisation in the sector - one that shares our values and supports our ways of working and given this, we’re excited to have found just that with David and the fbe. We very much see this as the beginning of a long-term relationship.
The investments we’ve made in new advisory service lines over the past 10 years, including Corporate Finance, VAT Advisory, Tax Advisory, HR and Property, has all been in response to the needs of business owners.
We also have a dedicated Research & Development (R&D) team whose sector expertise is underpinned by the teams’ hands-on experience within the sector prior to joining our business. Fortus also sits on the HMRC R&D Consultative Committee, so we’re well placed to advise businesses during this period of change, particularly given the legislative changes proposed and HMRC’s increased focus on the sector.
So, as we move further into 2022, we’re very much looking forward to adding value to the fbe and supporting its member businesses the best we possibly can.”
Look out for further announcements over the coming weeks.
With very best wishes
CEO & National Chairman.
