Event Details:

Our May 2022 event will have Kayla Ente MBE of the Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-Operative (BHESCo) as our main speaker. With the climate emergency being such a key issue globally, as well as an issue that has a huge impact on the construction industry, we felt that Kayla would be a fantastic first speaker for us, particularly given that her MBE was conferred by The Queen in recognition of her services to community-led energy efficiency projects

BHESCo was set up by Kayla in 2012, and is a community owned social enterprise that aims to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels in the energy supply by transforming the thermal efficiency of properties, while powering them with clean, renewable energy. BHESCo’s mission is to scale-up local energy generation, create renewable energy microgrids across communities and to accelerate efficiency retrofits of properties, and Kayla will give us a presentation on how this is applicable to all of us in the sector.

We will also be hearing from Paul Scrivens, the CEO of our community partner, the Dare to Dream campaign, delivered by LoveLocalJobs Foundation CIC. Paul will be discussing their campaign in more detail, and how the construction industry can play its part in boosting the future careers and lives of young people in Sussex.

Photography at the event will be by Katariina Jarvinen of Light Trick Photography

Please note that the FBE is trying to reduce its carbon footprint for each of its events, and for this reason our default breakfast is a vegan option. In the case of the Hotel Du Vin this is avocado on toast. If you would like to amend this, please contact Chris Hunter-Taylor on the details provided
