Event Details:
Unconventional Materiality will focus on three key themes regarding timber within the built environment - MMC Design for Manufacture, carbon neutrality, and structural innovations. The event will feature four keynote presentations, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
Chaired by Ged Couser of BDP with co-chair Sophie Hodges of Seven Architecture, our panel of experts includes innovators, architects, structural engineers and developers.
Unconventional Materiality is the first in an annual series of FBE Greater Manchester events discussing innovative use of materials, be it new ways of using existing materials or the adoption of new materials.
Our inaugural event, in partnership with Heyne Tillett Steel, will challenge the widely accepted premise that timber can provide an environmentally balanced way forward for the industry in the face of growing climate concerns. We have brought together a group of world leading architects and engineers who are pushing the boundaries of designing with timber across Europe.
This event will feature four keynote presentations followed by a panel discussion and an opportunity for the fbe audience to engage with our experts.
