Both developments are key to attracting new investment to the City Region’s science and tech business facilities, whilst creating a world-leading innovation district to boost commercial research and encourage the growth of innovation-led companies.
Following the presentation the opportunity will be provided to questions from the floor for both Mark and Colin.
Mark Askem, Associate Director of Estate Management at LJMU
Mark moved to Liverpool in 2004 where he joined Davis Langdon as an Associate and started working in the Higher Education Sector. Working as the project manager on projects such as; John Lennon Art and Design Building (LJMU), Tom Reilly Building (LJMU), creative arts centre (Glyndwr University), Rylands Library (UoM) and Gateway Building (University of Salford).
Mark developed an in-depth understanding of the sector and the pressures on estates departments. In 2014 Mark joined LJMU as the Associate Director for capital development with the specific objective of delivering the development of the Copperas Hill site. Mark is now the Acting Director of Estates (Development) with responsibility for developing a new Estates Strategy and Masterplan.
The first phase of projects are now starting on site with ground having been broken at Copperas Hill and at Aldham Robarts Library, and contracts about to be signed for the refurbishment and extension to the Tithebarn Street building. With a new Estate strategy for 2020 – 2030 being drafted the future pipeline for development at LJMU looks to be busy over the coming years.
