A circular walking tour, starting at Leeds Minster and finishing with a BBQ at The Lamb & Flag.
The remaking of South Bank Leeds.
Once there were mills, foundries, dye works, wharves and housing for industrial workers.
After long years as an economic powerhouse, decline set in and demolition from the middle of the 20th century left many sites vacant or underused.
Yet a renaissance started in the late 1980s. The whole South Bank is so close to the old city centre and has massive potential to provide accommodation and spaces for living, working, study and leisure. There are residents, new kinds of businesses, a growing range of educational and cultural opportunities.
You'll see evidence of the current pace of change, and appreciate how much is still to be done.
The tour will be followed by a BBQ and drink in the Lamb and Flag with opportunities for networking. Please do let us know when booking if you would prefer a vegan or vegetarian option or if you have any special dietary requirements.
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring jackets / umbrellas in case of rain! Please also let us know if you have any difficulties in walking or are in a wheelchair so the route can be planned accordingly.
