Event Details:
Henriette Breukelaar is the West Midlands Regional Director for the Canal and River Trust, looking after more than 500 miles of canals and associated locks, bridges and other assets throughout the region. 

Henriette will provide an insight into the role of the Canal and River Trust (CRT) in the built environment, ranging from asset management to waterside regeneration and property development. Henriette will specifically set out the challenges raised by climate change, inflation and reducing funding, and will identify the opportunities to support the CRT in keeping the Canal Network alive and generating further income.

Before joining the Canal and River Trust Henriette was Chief Executive of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, driving inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the city region.

She has a background in senior leadership in a variety of sectors including housing with care, advanced engineering, innovation and economic regeneration.

Henriette has an MA in European Economics and languages from the University of Amsterdam, and started her career in the Netherlands in equalities and community regeneration.

Outside her day job, Henriette is Trustee at Birmingham Hospice and a Board Member of the University of Birmingham City-Regional Economic Development Institute.
