Event details:

Simon Tranter, Director Regeneration and Economy, will provide an update on Walsall's economic plans, outlined in its 'We are Walsall 2040' vision.

Simon is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and specialises in major regeneration projects and programmes and has led economic and inward investment strategies for Walsall. Recently, Simon has attracted £140m of external funding which is seeing the transformation of Walsall Town Centre, led through the delivery of a Town Centre Masterplan. He has also led on complex projects such as SPARK, one of the regions key employment opportunities, and over the last few years supported over a million sq ft of new employment space and over 1000 new homes.

The long-term vision aims to make Walsall the most improved borough in the region, with a thriving economy and a place where people are proud to live. This includes initiatives like the £1.5 billion regeneration program, focusing on developing brownfield sites, improving skills and job opportunities, and enhancing digital infrastructure. The council also prioritizes infrastructure improvements, including transport upgrades, and supports the Black Country Enterprise Zone to attract investment and growth.

With a £0.5bn future pipeline of housing, employment and town centre commercial opportunities these are exciting times and Simon and his team are ready for the challenge working closely with key partners.
